Complaints
The
Board investigates complaints alleging that a chiropractic physician
has violated a provision of the Board's laws and rules. All
complaints are reviewed to determine preliminary disposition:
closure, referral to another agency, full field investigation,
or hold open pending further information. Any person may file
a complaint with the Board. In the absence of bad faith, a person
who files a complaint with the Board shall not be liable for
civil damages as a result of filing a complaint, cooperating
with an investigation or providing testimony.
The
Board does not investigate complaints that involve disputes
pertaining to insurance benefits/reimbursement or fee disputes
between you and your chiropractic physician. We also do not
mediate disputes or determinations pertaining to disability
compensation.
If
you wish to file a complaint against a chiropractic physician
licensed by the Board, please complete a complaint form and
reduce your complaint to writing, providing complete details
of your allegations. The Board will accept anonymous complaints
and complaints over the telephone, but a written complaint is
preferable.
Once
your complaint is filed, your allegations will be reviewed to
determine if a possible violation of the Board's laws and rules
has occurred. You will receive a letter acknowledging receipt
of your complaint. Depending on the nature of your complaint,
a Board Investigator may contact you for further information
or for a formal interview. The chiropractic physician may also
be contacted and interviewed.
Complaints
filed with the Board, including our investigations, are confidential.
